Mom Turns to SafeKidZone to Protect Her Children

August 10, 2011
Share

Another mom with a gripping story recently blogged about SafeKidZone and we thought we should share it with you.

Ten months ago this mom’s daughter was raped. Completely out of nowhere – she was an honour student and hung out with the “right” crowd.

This is not an exceptional story, according to RAINN, the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network, someone is sexually assaulted in the U.S. every 2 minutes.

This mom said her blog was usually her “Happy Place”, but when she discovered SafeKidZone she felt it was her responsibility to let people know.

“Prior to now, I have maintained this blog as my ‘happy place’, my escape, my happy place,” she said.

“However, as some degree of healing occurs, I am overwhelm with a need to protect more communities, more families, more women.”

Her story of what happened inspired other bloggers to comment about their own experiences and how they could see how SafeKidZone could help them and their children.

“Thanks for letting us know about this awesome App. I just might have to look into it. One of my nightmares is something happening to one of my children and me not being able to do a single thing about it,” one responder commented.

If you want to read more of this mom’s blog please visit her site.

With school starting soon, this mom blogger ended with this bit of advice.

“Its nearly back to school time. You’ve likely had all the important safety discussions with your children,” she said

“They’ve probably had special programs on safety at school. In all likelihood, you’ve carefully discussed events that you’ve learned of in the news, the tragedies of others motivating yet another conversation about staying safe.

You can NEVER do enough.”

Mom blogging about SafeKidZone

August 9, 2011
Share

With the recent expansion into different areas we have had some amazing responses from a wide variety of people.

A few weeks ago we posted some successes from students of a school who were trialling our product. this week we had some mom bloggers posting about SafeKidZone too.

One in particular stands out.  She  has a nine-year-old son who is starting school in a different part of town.

Concerned for his safety they bought him a cell phone but were still unsure about how safe he would be commuting from school to home.

However, she found SafeKidZone and immediately knew it was a “necessary addition to his new phone and [her] peace of mind”.

“The service made perfect sense. It would turn our son’s cell phone into his own personal help line,” she marvelled.

Having told her son about the service he was immediately exited as well.

“I won’t worry anymore, now that I know I can get help just by hitting this button,” he said.

As we detailed in the previous post, both SafeKidZone and SafeTREC are exceptionally easy to use and will get you massive help when you most need it.

But with so many different features it can be a bit overwhelming knowing exactly how each one will help you.

To assist with that we’ve been busy creating instructional videos to explain exactly what each feature is, and how it can help to keep you safe.

The first one focuses on the Panic Button. The Panic Button is the most important feature. By pressing it you will get you the massive help when and where you need it.

By following the link below you will be able to view it at the MobileTREC Youtube site.

Episode 1 – Panic Button.

We will be releasing more videos in the coming weeks covering  features such as Threat Level, your Safety Network, Neighbors. So stay tuned.

Special needs child assisted by SafeKidZone

August 2, 2011
Share

As we covered in our last blog post, SafeKidZone has been piloting a project at a local school.

Amongst one of the children chosen to be given a SafeKidZone phone was a 12-year-old special needs boy. His mother found there was a real change in him after he received it.

“My child is a special needs child and isn’t always confident or secure while with his friends, at school, or away from his home,” she said.

“Since he has received the SafeKidZone phone I have observed his attitude and self esteem climb tremendously. He seems to feel more confident because he knows that at any time regardless where he is I am just a button away.

The SafeKidZone phone allows him the independence that up to this point I had not been able to provide to him. Additionally, the SafeKidZone gives me the opportunity to let go of him slightly and gives me the support that I need to give him in order to further provide the safety-nets for him.”

Another bonus of the SafeKidZone system is that it is simple to use! By pressing the Panic Button it sets of a chain reaction of responses that are designed to keep you safe, as you can see in the image below.

According to the mother of the 12-year-old boy it is due to the ease of the technology that SafeKidZone is such an effective system for protecting your kids.

I am so appreciative of the SafeKidZone phone as this is the first time that I can let my child have some independence because the application is so easy, the set up is so user friendly and the process assures my child being safe or gives him the capability to recruit emergency assistance if he is presented with a dangerous situation, thank you for this SafeKidZone,” she said.

A SafeKidZone Community Project

July 28, 2011
Share

As part of our commitment to the local community, we recently piloted SafeKidZone technology with a school near the MobileTREC headquarters.

The program was a raving success with both parents and children writing in to tell us of their experiences with the technology.

This week we would like to share with you how having the SafeKidZone phone added extra reassurance to the parent of a 14-year-old middle school girl.

“With SafeKidZone I am able to have some additional reassurance that my child has the ability to press the panic bottom when they are not being supervised by an adult, such as going to school or coming home from school,” she said.

“I am also able to give my child some independence because of the extra support that the SafeKidZone program provides to my child.”

“I am so appreciative of the opportunity to be part of the Gateway to Success, SafeKidZone project, it is an incredible opportunity. The safety of my child is the most important responsibility I have and the SafeKidZone phone provides that additional safety!”

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing more wins and successes from participants.

If you know of a group or charity that could benefit from the SafeKidZone technology, or would like to share a story of your own, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Stay safe,
The SafeKidZone Team.
