Halloween is a few days away and that means it is more than likely your kids will be wandering around the neighbourhood with friends Trick-or-Treating.

To make sure they have the safest possible time, we have some tips from the Fire and Rescue Department to keep your kids are safe while they are out hunting for candy.
Make sure if a child is carrying a prop, such as a knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury if fallen on.
Make sure the child carries a flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to cars.
Young children should be accompanied by an adult or a responsible teen.
Teaching kids basic safety such as not getting into cars, talking to strangers, looking both ways before crossing the street and crossing when the lights tell them to, will help make them safer when they are out Trick-or-Treating

In addition to the above points, SafeKidZone also has some safety solutions for this Halloween. Give yourself peace of mind and ensure your child’s safety with these three helpful features that you can use:

To ensure their safety and your peace of mind, SafeKidZone recommends you familiarize yourself with the following features.

Threat Level allows you to know which areas are safe, and which are dangerous. You and your kids can both receive alerts warning you when they are approaching a dicey part of the neighborhood. To learn more about how Threat Level works visit our video blog.

Though it is probably not something you really want to think about, there are sex offenders living in the community. With SafeKidZone’s sex offender map you are able to locate where sex offenders live and make sure your child stays well away from that part of the neighborhood. To find out more about Crime Data/Sex Offenders Map visit our website or if you have an account, log in at login.safekidzone.com and check out your neighborhood.

You are also able to track the GPS location of your child through the SafeKidZone application so you know minute by minute where exactly they are at. If your child happens to run into trouble, they can hit the Panic Button so you and everyone in their Safety Network will be immediately alerted to their whereabouts and connected with them in a live conference call.

If you have any questions about our services you can contact customer support at 1-888-885-0887.

We hope you have a happy and safe Halloween.

We would like to share one particular mom’s experience with SafeKidZone with you.

Like a lot of moms, Terri’s kids are kept busy with a range of after-school activities. Her son is also riding the bus for the first time this year as well. But one thing she knows her children will always have with them at all times is their cell phone.

“I count on the security of my children having cell phones,” she said. “ Whether my son is walking the two short blocks within our enclosed neighborhood to the bus stop, or my daughter is out for an early evening run, its important to me that they be able to reach me, and me them.”

SafeKidZone is such a perfect fit for Terri’s family because it transforms something her kids are already using every day – a cell phone – into a personal security device.

“SafeKidZone provides you with the tools you need to take preventative measures, to help ensure your child and family’s safety, as well as provide direct and immediate resources in the unfortunate event they are needed,” she said.

“Enabling parents and children to immediately connect in dangerous situations, as well as linking in your pre-designated safety network, will ensure appropriate and informed response to any situation of concern.”

These preventative measures include things such as Threat Level, which informs both you and your child of dangerous locations before they even enter them. To find out more about Threat Level watch our video blog.

The world can at times seem like a pretty dangerous place – all we read about in the newspaper or see on TV is war, murder and violence.

Thankfully, the world isn’t actually as dangerous as it is depicted in the media. But it is still important to be aware of the risks and dangers that do exist.

It is our aim at SafeKidZone to educate people and keep them safe.

“Our mission is to make families and communities safer by becoming the leader in Next Generation Public Safety and putting our technology on every cell phone on the planet,” the SafeKidZone website says.

The SafeKidZone application works across all smart phone devices.Better yet, initiative a Panic Button is not even restricted to smart phones!

Even if your phone can’t download the application, you are still able to trigger a Panic Button simply by having our Emergency Resposnse Call Centre set up as a speed dial.

If in danger, you can hold down that speed dial and you will be connected via a live conference call with our 24/7 Emergency Response Call Center as well as your own Safety Network. If necessary your call can still be escalated to 911 as well.

However, your GPS location will not be available if you do not have a smart phone and download the app. So make sure you let people know of your whereabouts when you are connected via the conference call.

Obviously, to get the full advantage of all of the different features, it is beneficial to have a smart phone. With a smart phone your GPS location will be known and you will be able to access other amazing features such as your immediate Threat Level.

The study by market research company, NPD, showed the average age kids start using electronics has declined from 8.1 years in 2005 to 6.7 years now.

But many critics argue this is actually a conservative estimate and that many children are actually becoming acquainted with electronics as early as the age of 5.

As a result of this familiarity with technology they are more likely to feel comfortable using it according to industry analyst, Anita Frazier.

“Kids are drawn to the latest and greatest digital devices just as their parents are,” she said. “They appear to have no fear of technology and adopt it easily and without fanfare, making these devices a part of their everyday lives.”

Indeed, an estimated 57% of children between the ages of 9 and 12 own a cell phone.

For many young people a phone is not just something they will use to text or call people from.

According to leading social researcher, Larry Rosen, phones have become an integral part of many young people’s lives.

“A phone is something that must be able to be tailored to their own needs and wishes and desires,” he said.

This includes emergencies. Over half the children surveyed said they expect their phone to be able to help them in an emergency.

SafeKidZone has leading edge technology that this generation of technologically proficient children can use to keep themselves safe.

With the SafeKidZone application your kids can, at the press of a button, summon massive help when and where they need it most.

To find out more about how this new technology can help keep your family safe visit our Youtube site.

In the meantime, stay safe.

But wouldn’t it be nice to be able to know where trouble was so you could avoid it altogether.

Well that is exactly what Threat Level does.

All places have some degree of danger, but some are more dangerous than others.

With Threat Level you will be able to know just how safe a particular location is.

Not only will you be able to know if crime is heavy in the area, Threat Level can also tell you known sex offenders in that location.

You can view their name, picture and even where they live. Threat information can also be sent to all of you or your child’s Safety Network, giving them real time updates on where they’re at

Threat Level is the subject of our latest instructional video. If you’d like to find out more about how it can keep your family safe, please view the video at our Youtube site.

We will be releasing more videos in the coming weeks covering more features you can use to keep those you love safe. So stay tuned. In the meantime. Stay Safe

A recent study found nearly 80 per cent of students reported being the victims of bullying.

The same survey of children, commissioned by Bullying Statistics, claimed children felt school was becoming more violent.

Every month 280,000 children are reportedly the victims of physical violence at school.

The question many parents face in the wake of such widespread bullying is how can they protect their children while they’re at school?

Not surprisingly the same survey found 32 per cent of adults feared for their child’s safety while their children were at school.

One of the biggest problem with bullying is that it goes unreported, thus giving the bully license to continue their torment.

However, imagine for a second that your child had the SafeKidZone application on their phone. When a bully approaches them either at school or walking home. They have been targeted because they are alone or with only one friend and seen as an easy target.

Now imagine if you kid has a Panic Button (pictured) and can explain to the bully, “Everyone in my Safety Network has been notified, including the police, friends, mom, dad, and every neighbor within one mile of my location.”

There is no way the bully would go near them! The SafeKidZone application is as much about danger prevention as it has to do with emergency situations.

There would also be peace of mind as a parent because you would know your child had the protection of their entire Safety Network at the touch of a button.

If you would like to know more about the SafeKidZone application please visit our Youtube. site where we have numerous instructional videos.

Recent statistics from the FBI seem to confirm this with homicides and robberies rising nearly four per cent and aggravated assaults up nearly two per cent in the last year.

However, a closer look at these figures show that last year crime actually dropped in the majority of the country. These crime rates then are being boosted by a concentration of increasingly dangerous neighborhoods.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to know which places to avoid so you can stay out of trouble all together?

A lesser known but very important part of the SafeKidZone application is the Threat Level. This allows you to be proactive in avoiding trouble so hopefully you will never need to press the Panic Button!

Threat Level uses your GPS location and our Danger Formula to measure how dangerous a location is by looking at things such as crime, sex offenders and other possible hazards.

By knowing where the danger is you are more able to protect your children before a situation even presents itself.

A recent mom blogger discovered our service, and though her children are young she cannot wait to begin using it when her children are old enough to be going out on their own.

I am glad this service has started now before my kids are all grown up,” she said.

“My oldest child is only four and not in school yet, but I can’t wait until they can use a service like this!”

We are currently working on another instructional video specifically for Threat Level so stay keep checking our Youtube site for new updates.

If you have any queries about how SafeKidZone can help protect your family don’t hesitate to contact us at SafeKidZone.

In the meantime, stay safe.

Both teachers and students are very happy with our service and remark frequently about how much assistance it provides.

This week we thought we’d share with you a testimonial from a 16-year-old girl participating in the project.

“I am a sophomore at a school in the Alhambra School District. I travel several miles to

school and leave for school very early in the morning in order to get to class on time,” she said.

“The neighborhood that I travel through is very quiet and at times I feel very scared when it is still dark outside and I leave for school.

“The SafeKidZone phone gives me the security to know that my safety network is just a push of the button away.”

Another benefit of having the phone is she is now able to stay back at school later because she knows she will be safe walking home.

“I am more at ease when I am outside of my home and my parents feel that I am better protected because of the SafeKidZone. Thank you for this opportunity and for making my life a little easier,” she said.

If you would like to see how SafeKidZone could help your child please visit our Youtube site to see our video blog.

There will be more posted in the coming weeks covering different aspects of the system and how it will help protect your family.

In the meantime, stay safe.
