Halloween is a few days away and that means it is more than likely your kids will be wandering around the neighbourhood with friends Trick-or-Treating.
To make sure they have the safest possible time, we have some tips from the Fire and Rescue Department to keep your kids are safe while they are out hunting for candy.
Make sure if a child is carrying a prop, such as a knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury if fallen on.
Make sure the child carries a flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to cars.
Young children should be accompanied by an adult or a responsible teen.
Teaching kids basic safety such as not getting into cars, talking to strangers, looking both ways before crossing the street and crossing when the lights tell them to, will help make them safer when they are out Trick-or-Treating
In addition to the above points, SafeKidZone also has some safety solutions for this Halloween. Give yourself peace of mind and ensure your child’s safety with these three helpful features that you can use:
To ensure their safety and your peace of mind, SafeKidZone recommends you familiarize yourself with the following features.
Threat Level allows you to know which areas are safe, and which are dangerous. You and your kids can both receive alerts warning you when they are approaching a dicey part of the neighborhood. To learn more about how Threat Level works visit our video blog.
Though it is probably not something you really want to think about, there are sex offenders living in the community. With SafeKidZone’s sex offender map you are able to locate where sex offenders live and make sure your child stays well away from that part of the neighborhood. To find out more about Crime Data/Sex Offenders Map visit our website or if you have an account, log in at login.safekidzone.com and check out your neighborhood.
You are also able to track the GPS location of your child through the SafeKidZone application so you know minute by minute where exactly they are at. If your child happens to run into trouble, they can hit the Panic Button so you and everyone in their Safety Network will be immediately alerted to their whereabouts and connected with them in a live conference call.
